Why Sirius Black has deserved his time and still won’t get the attention he should
If the Harry Potter series on HBO Max ends up being about Sirius Black and the Marauders, that isn’t going to be fair to fans who have waited for years for it.
A lot of fans were pitching the idea of the new Harry Potter series being a Marauders series and here’s the thing: That’s not fair to Sirius Black. It’s not fair to any of them but we’ve waited so long for a Marauders series to happen that now, in the midst of everything happening with the series, it feels like it’s a cheap way to get fans invested once again.
Right now, fans are at a crossroads. This upcoming “potential” series doesn’t have any writers yet so Warner Bros. could be trying to give stories to people other than J.K. Rowling but the truth is, she’s still benefiting from them being told.
And doing something with the Marauders after all this time, giving fans of Sirius Black his time when everyone is on their way out feels like a slap in the face. To be honest, the Marauders should have had their time long before Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them did. We’ve been waiting for more of Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, James Potter, and Peter Pettigrew and instead, we were given an aspect of this world none of us cared about.
And now to throw an idea at the Marauders to try and get fans excited? It feels cheap. And not something we deserve after all of this. That series should happen once J.K. Rowling isn’t benefitting so completely from it.
There are other series we can dedicate our time to other than the Harry Potter franchise. dark. Next
