There are other series we can dedicate our time to other than the Harry Potter franchise

With all the drama surrounding the Harry Potter series, maybe it is time for us, as fans, to look to other franchises to dedicate our time and energy towards.

The Harry Potter fandom has been rocked with a pretty hard pill to swallow. The series we know and love is no longer beloved and it is all to do with J.K. Rowling and her transphobic tweets and blog post. So, what does that mean for the franchise and its fans?

It might be time to start looking into other series to love. Not saying to completely abandon the Potter franchise and everything it gave to fans. But maybe not constantly going back to it or giving it the attention that we used to.

Because with each new bit of attention the series gives, the more that studios can justify working with J.K. Rowling. They see that her posts don’t have any “consequences” and will willingly give her their time and money.

So by turning to other stories, giving them our love and attention, we take away Rowling’s power in a way. She doesn’t have a fanbase who will consume anything she puts out anymore and that’s a good thing.

There are so many franchises out there that are great and content not being explored because we love the Harry Potter series so completely and maybe it’s time to start looking elsewhere for our content and separate ourselves more from the franchise. It’ll be better in the long run and give much needed attention to other stories out there and not just Rowling’s world.

Remember to be kind to one another. We’re all part of this fandom together and we need to be there for those hurt by Rowling’s words.
