A live action Harry Potter HBO Max series is now in the works!

The exciting news comes from an article from the Hollywood Reporter who has sources that are saying that executives at HBO Max have been meeting with writers to explore various ideas about bringing the Wizarding World to the streaming service.

No specific writers have been inked to a deal, with HBO Max and Warner Bros. providing a statement to THR stating “There are no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform,” but the report is welcome news to fans that are hoping WB can find a new direction to go too as Fantastic Beasts flounders through its series.

The potential for a Potter HBO Max series has been apparent ever since Disney started making Marvel Cinematic Universe shows as well as DC Films commitment to spinning off every superhero film into its own HBO Max series.

There is also the possibility that there will be more than just one series debuting on the WB owned streaming service. With fans clamoring for more background on Snape, The Marauders, and even a potential series based on the Hogwarts founders, the Potter history is ripe for the picking.

HBO Max could even go a different, completely new direction, focusing heavily on the game of Quidditch, or even the American wizarding school Ilvermorny, which has only been briefly touched on, and not in the most concrete of ways.

While it seems they are in the earliest of stages of development, it is welcome news to know that Warner Bros. will be pulling out all the stops to bring this wonderful series back to its former glory!
