Batwoman season 2 episode 2 live stream: Watch online

The second season premiere of Batwoman walked a fine line between wrapping up the storylines of the previous season and catapulting the fans and characters into this new story centered on Ryan Wilder. And although Ryan hasn’t decided to take up Kate’s mantle just yet, she seems to have passed the trial run — at least in Mary’s eyes — and just needs that extra push.

She’ll probably get that in tonight’s episode, too, at least if the promo for “Prior Criminal History” is anything to judge by. Not only is Ryan already back in the suit, but she’s explaining to Luke that living a life “surrounded by criminals” has prepared her well to take them down.

Perhaps we should thank the armed robbery teased in the promo for Ryan’s realization that Gotham City needs her.

Whether becoming Batwoman will be her first option, though, is another question heading into tonight’s episode. At the end of the promo, she’s telling someone — who looks a lot like Jacob — that “beating up bad guys won’t be a problem.” Given that the first shot of the teaser shows Sophie walking into a room with Ryan handcuffed, it seems Ryan is about to get wrapped up with the Crows, too.

(Could we possibly even see a Team Batwoman/Crows team-up this season? We aren’t getting our hopes up.)

Outside of Ryan’s decision to become the new Batwoman after all, it seems she’ll also have a run-in with Alice during this week’s episode. The official synopsis for “Prior Criminal History” says:

"“Ryan Wilder is back to facing the daily challenges of life as herself; Alice has a new, devious plan to get the attention of both Gotham and Safiyah; Ryan comes face to face with Alice for the first time.”"

Ryan may be great at taking down baddies, but we wouldn’t wish Alice’s level of madness on anyone tackling their first day on the job. Add in the fact that she just lost her sister — and her opportunity for revenge — and Ryan’s likely to have her hands full.

To find out how Ryan’s origin story unravels, we’ll have to tune into tonight’s episode and see where the dangers of Gotham City take her.
