A Very Potter Musical and the references fans can pull from it
Darren Criss was on to something with A Very Potter Musical and it’s fun to look at the show from the perspective of a Harry Potter fan and get to see the references.
One thing that A Very Potter Musical got right was connecting back to the Harry Potter series in a way that fans can relate to. They love looking at the series through a different lens and the musical gives us a look into how we can connect the series so that it isn’t just the straight forward story we all know and love.
The way the story flows is through combining the entire Harry Potter series into different songs and just making references to the whole story. Which works because we all know and love these characters so much. So we don’t really need to have it follow Harry’s story to a perfect letter because we know where he ends up in the end.
Plus, doing it this way means that we can watch A Very Potter Musical and the other musicals of the series and look back to what storylines they did or didn’t tackle. Personally, I love the way the musicals take on Harry and Sirius’s relationship as well as the way they explore aspects of the characters we’ve come to know throughout the years.
Is A Very Potter Musical perfect? No but it’s a fun way for fans to revisit the series while making sure to give your time and energy to something made by fans of the series and separate from giving your attention directly to Rowling and her work.
