There’s a lot to break down in The Walking Dead 10C’s new trailer, but these are the big moments we’re most excited to see.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Fear the Walking Dead gave The Walking Dead fans lots of new material to look forward to during the fall. But diehard members of TWDFamily are still missing new episodes of the original show. The 11th season was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but to fill the gap, six additional episodes were filmed for season 10. Those episodes, which have been branded 10C, will begin airing on February 28.

And the official trailer AMC released for the new episodes shows that the intensity and depth that’s become characteristic of the show since Angela Kang took over as showrunner are about to be amped up. The episodes will each focus on a particular character or set of characters and will move the arc of the story past the season 10 finale, providing backstory for some beloved and hated characters along the way.

The trailer also revealed that some of the moments fans have been waiting for — like the Commonwealth discovery and a look back at Negan’s origin story — will be covered in these six episodes. It’s clear that the installments are a mix of pivotal story moments to push the plot into season 11 and some fan service as a gift to those of us who have been waiting so long for new episodes.

Even though the trailer is only a minute long, there is a lot to unpack in it. These are the moments we’re most looking forward to seeing in The Walking Dead 10C based on the trailer.

The Commonwealth

We barely got to meet Princess or see where that storyline was going when season 10 ended. Comic readers know where it’s headed, but the rest of you may be wondering who the armored soldiers are with and what that’s all about.  And in10C, you’re going to find out.

In the trailer, it’s revealed that this group isn’t exactly friendly. Yumiko gets hit pretty hard, Princess gets roughed up too, and Ezekiel has blood on his face. The Commonwealth storyline is one that comic fans have been hoping to see for a long time, and it’s going to be really exciting to see it brought to screen with the same quality and intensity that the show has offered in seasons nine and 10.

Where has Maggie been?

It looks like The Walking Dead fans will finally get to find out where Maggie has been and what’s she’s been up to. Maggie slipped away quietly when Rick was taken by the CRM, and aside from a quick reveal that she was off with Georgie somewhere (presumably learning more about Georgie’s Key to the Future), nothing more was said about Maggie or baby Hershel. When she came to the rescue in the season 10 finale — accompanied by the mysterious ninja figure and saving Gabriel at the last minute — it hinted at a very interesting story. In at least one of the six episode that are coming up, Maggie’s story will be featured.

Young Hershel

The trailer proves that the upcoming episodes are also going to deal with some dangling storylines from the past, like Negan having to face a reckoning for what he’s done. It was very emotional to see young Hershel, not a baby anymore and looking a whole lot like Glenn. In the trailer, Maggie says that young Hershel asked her what happened to his dad and she told him that “a bad man” killed him. Maggie’s not over it, and it’s been a long time coming to see how she’s going to resolve the Negan situation.

Feral Daryl and Carol

There’s just something nostalgic and wonderful about seeing the two OG characters that are left out there doing better than ever. Daryl has always been at his best when he’s on his own, living in his own wild way, or partnering with Carol. Their unique bond is so strong, and they are wonderful to watch — so, getting at least one episode where they are doing things together and alone? Yes please. These episodes will also probably give fans an idea of what the upcoming spin-off featuring these two will be like, and that’s pretty exciting too. The adventures of Daryl and Carol is a show I am definitely ready to see.

Aaron getting to do something

Aaron has been suffering from Jesus’ fate in season 10. He’s a fantastic character that has really grown into a leader, but he hasn’t been given that much to do. It looks like he and Gabriel have some serious action coming up, and it will be fantastic to see Aaron get some real development and get to flex as the badass he really has become.

Meet Lucille

Admittedly, I have mixed feelings about this because I’ll never get over Glenn’s death, and I’m not really ready to see Negan humanized or made into a sympathetic character. However, at the same time, it’s very exciting to see Negan’s backstory fleshed out and brought into the canon of The Walking Dead show.

Hilarie Burton Morgan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s actual spouse, will be playing Lucille — and just from the short seconds she’s onscreen in the trailer, it looks like she’s going to make the actual Lucille a complex character that will be very interesting to meet. The trailer also shows Negan creating the first Lucille bat, so fans will be meeting both Lucilles for the first time. I’m pretty sure that JDM and HBM together are going to make me actually care about Negan, and I’m going to have to work through my feelings about that.

Next. The Walking Dead returns with six new episodes in February. dark

Based on just the short trailer for The Walking Dead 10C the six bonus episodes are going to give The Walking Dead fans a slew of compelling stories, intense action, and emotional moments to get them ready for season 11. Don’t miss The Walking Dead 10C’s kickoff on February 28.
