There is a lot of transphobic rhetoric online today and it’s important for fans of the Harry Potter series to remember that Rowling doesn’t deserve our support.

J.K. Rowling has made her transphobic viewpoint clear through her blog post and constant tweets about it. Today, as transphobic rhetoric trends on Twitter due to TERFs sharing their hatred for Joe Biden, it’s important to remember why we have to stand up against people like J.K. Rowling and express why viewpoints like that in her blogpost are dangerous to the trans community.

The idea is that trans women are not women, which is not true. Trans women are women just as trans men are men and so on and so forth. There is nothing in that knowledge that hurts you as a man or a woman and it shouldn’t be something that you focus your hatred on to. But that hatred exists and it exists in the form of J.K. Rowling and her tweets/posts.

So when people say to simply separate the art from the artist, they’re letting Rowling get away with this dangerous rhetoric and that’s not okay. So it’s important to constantly point out why she’s not someone fans should support.

Because if you willingly give your money to the Harry Potter franchise and Rowling is still in control, then you’re giving your money to someone who spreads transphobic misinformation over and over again.

So today, when you see these people on Twitter sharing harmful views, point out why that’s wrong and dangerous. Call them out. And remember to also call out people like Rowling who uses her platform to spread this dangerous rhetoric rather than uplifting and protecting the trans community.

Next. Let’s use the Voldemort rule in regards to Donald Trump. dark

Remember to be kind to one another.
