It’s been a while since DC fans have spent time in the Arrowverse — and even longer since they visited the Bat Cave — but the wait for new content is finally over. Batwoman season two premieres on The CW tonight, introducing a new mystery and a new hero to the network’s lineup of DC TV content.
Fans were stunned when Ruby Rose announced she’d be departing from the series last year, leaving the show to find a new lead to take up the mantle. Even more shocking was the news that Kate Kane would be written out altogether, with Javicia Leslie’s Ryan Wilder becoming the new Batwoman. Of course, how Ryan will come into the role — and where, exactly, Kate Kane has gone — are central questions the upcoming season will need to answer.
And despite the bumpy road, it seems like it’s going to be a promising second chapter. Leslie wears the suit well, at least if her social media posts and the season two trailer are anything to judge by. And with a solid supporting cast to back her up, it’s likely she won’t just save Gotham — but perhaps The CW’s Arrowverse as well.

The trailer for season two suggests fans will see two storylines unfold side by side this season: the search for Kate and Ryan’s path to becoming Gotham’s new hero. The premiere’s title — “Whatever Happened to Kate Kane?” — promises to focus on the former, but it seems we will meet our new leading lady in tonight’s episode. We’ll also see what’s become of the other characters and discover how the show plans to make its comeback from its first season.
