Selena: The Series Part 2 starring Christian Serratos returns to Netflix in May
The epic story of Tejano music legend Selena will come to its conclusion when Selena: The Series Part 2 arrives on Netflix on May 14. The first installment of the series has been a critical and audience success and the anticipation is building to see star Christian Serratos (The Walking Dead) continue her work in Part 2 as the young Tejano singer whose short life was ended all too early by her tragic death.
Selena: The Series Part 2 will launch on Netflix on May 14. While the first half of the series followed the events early on in Selena’s career, from her early life and the beginning of her career, the second half will follow her as she navigates the complicated path between stardom and her daily life all the way through her tragic shooting death at the hands of her former fan club president.
Christian Serratos delivered a powerful performance in the first season, bringing Selena to life with incredible levels of detail and dedication to the role. The first season followed Selena’s early family life and her rise to fame. Though Part 2 will ultimately arrive at Selena’s death, the show is really a celebration of her life and accomplishments, a fitting tribute for her fans and a way to introduce her to new generations of fans.
Even after 26 years, Selena’s death still sparks sadness across the music industry and especially in the Tejano music circles. She was a rising star whose fame had no bounds. Selena’s crossover appeal, winning over both Spanish and English speaking audiences, put her at the top.
The arrival of Selena: The Series Part 2 is very fitting, especially because this year Selena Quintanilla will be recognized for her work and contributions to the music industry when she’s awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award during the ceremony in March.
