Thomas Doherty as Max Wolfe

We’re stumped with Max’s character. Freedom has so many possibilities. Is Max looking for freedom? Has he already achieved it? And freedom from who or from what? Will we be watching him get out from under a parent’s thumb?

Chuck Bass famously had a contentious relationship with his father, one that led to many a spiral, a worrying level of alcohol consumption, and the kind of destructive behavior that means trouble for all in the surrounding area.

Max may or may not be the reboot’s version of a clean-cut bad boy or he could be a sweetheart. We’ll have to see, but if he’s looking for freedom and hasn’t found it yet, then we’re sure to be rooting for him to get it or take it, whatever comes first.

In any case, if there’s not a corny wolf in sheep’s clothing joke made by Gossip Girl in this reboot, then what even is the point? Don’t let us down, show!

Emily Alyn Lind as Audrey Hope

Okay, with a last name like Hope, a caption like “Grace,” and a photo like this, does anyone else feel like “she’ll be the baby of the series” is being screamed at them? Not to mention Audrey is giving Little J teas with her styling in this video. We also noticed she’s reading on the steps of the Met. Dan Humphrey anyone?

If Audrey’s our literature nerd, we’re expecting some very pretentious lines. There’s nothing like a non-sequitur quote from a canon classic to let us know these kids read. But with it being 2021, I fully expect someone to mention how white and male that canon is. Whether it’s Audrey who mentions it or someone else, we don’t care. Just give us a diatribe on how the required reading list needs to be updated, please and thank you.

Tavi Gevinson as Kate Keller

With a caption like “Ambition” for Kate, you know our thoughts circled back to Monet. That’s not to say Kate and our resident boss lady can’t be friends, or maybe Kate is Monet’s underling. But we’re thinking they’ll be rivals.

Kate may already have whatever she wants, but if she’s ambitious that means she’ll want more. All we can do is speculate, but we have a feeling that Kate isn’t the kind of girl to wait for something to be handed to her. Either she’ll earn it or take it, or perhaps she doesn’t care as long as its hers.

Remember what we said about Monet watching her back? We mean that sincerely, especially when it comes to this one.
