Written in Starlight by Isabel Ibañez

If you enjoyed Isabel Ibañez’s Woven in Moonlight, you’ll want to check out its companion novel this month: Written in StarlightThe story follows Catalina Quiroga after she’s banished from her own country, left to survive the jungle without her throne or her people. Still, she has a pretty good reason for making sure she stays alive: to reclaim her throne and country.

And fortunately, an acquaintance arrives just in time to help her formulate that plan and accomplish what she’s set out to do. Manuel, the child of Catalina’s former general, suggests she reach out to the Illari and make an alliance with them. Together, they’d no doubt take her throne back — but first, the Illari have something more important to contend with:

"“But the elusive Illari are fighting a battle of their own — a mysterious blight is corrupting the jungle, laying waste to everything they hold dear. As a seer, Catalina should be able to help, but her ability to read the future in the stars is as feeble as her survival instincts.”"

With high stakes and political intrigue, Written in Starlight sounds like an engaging read for fantasy fans. Those excited about returning to Ibañez’s world can pick up Written in Starlight when it comes out on January 26.
