When will the Illustrated Edition for Order of the Phoenix be released?

The illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was released in Fall of 2019. So when can we expect Order of the Phoenix’s illustrated copy to arrive in all of its glory?

I have made it a point every year to ask for the newest Illustrated Edition of the Harry Potter series as a gift, and it never fails to be the best present to open. Each copy is filled with new interpretations of classic Potter moments, and it’s amazing to see Jim Kay’s style be imbued into each sketch.

A new copy was not released, so it was a little sad to not be able to see the newest drawing from Kay, but that is probably for a good reason. Kay is currently hard at work on Order of the Phoenix, and is shooting for a Fall of 2021 release date, probably in September or October.

He has even shared some sneak peeks at his work, including looks at a draft of Kreacher, the Black Family House Elf, and a Thestrals harness. The drawing can be found on Instagram under the account @creepy_scrawlers.

The most exciting part for this edition will be getting to see his take on one of the darkest books in the series, and how the climactic battle inside the Ministry will be portrayed. Count me as one who cannot wait to see it in 2021.
