How far would S.P.E.W have gotten by 2020?

Often forgotten and marginalized, house elves were not championed by many in the wizarding world. With Hermione Granger taking up the fight, how far could S.P.E.W have gotten by 2020? 

The organization was first started by Hermione in Goblet of Fire, as she discovered the conditions the house elves were working in at Hogwarts. The only elf being paid was Dobby, who was looked at as a pariah and a shameful figure by the other elves, especially Winky, had been hired alongside Dobby.

The attitude given off by the other elves indicates that there was a lot of work to be done to convince elves that they deserved to be paid. Even Dobby, who was being paid a Galleon a week and had one day off a month, couldn’t fathom being paid more and having more time off, which had been offered to him when Dumbledore hired him.

Hermione made it a goal of hers after she left Hogwarts to improve the conditions house elves lived under, and many people’s minds could have been changed to how elves were treated when they fought alongside the wizards in the Battle of Hogwarts. However, we have not gotten any indication that things actually did get better for them.

The most basic ideal that could have been changed by now is the requirement that elves be paid for their work. This would be a massive step in the right direction, and something that should have happened by 2020. If the Wizarding World is ever explored past the Second Wizarding War, it is imperative that we get some sort of update on the conditions of house elves.
