2020: The best TV moments that helped us get through this year
Travis Fimmel’s return to television in Ridley Scott’s surreal Raised by Wolves
Since his departure from History Channel’s Vikings after four seasons, fans have been hoping Travis Fimmel would return to television, although he has seemed fairly uninterested in the medium and incredibly picky about his projects.
The Australian former model’s take on legendary Viking Ragnar Lothbrok was a revelation and considered by many (myself included) to be one of the best performances on television.
It took another legend, Ridley Scott (Alien, Gladiator, Blade Runner) to lure Fimmel back to to the platform, for the HBO sci-fi series, Raised by Wolves, an absorbing show that centers around two androids tasked with raising human children on a hostile planet.
Fimmel leads a group of religious humans who battle the AI—both spiritually and physically—to retain control of the children. As Marcus, originally an atheist, Fimmel’s process of “finding his religion” in conjunction with his descent into madness justified the captivating actor’s long-awaited return to television.
