The message

With themes of inspiration, truth, and compassion, Wonder Woman 1984 is a satisfactory continuation of Diana’ journey to becoming the Wonder Woman we first met in Batman v. Superman.

As much as the first film was about love, the sequel focused on truth being its main theme. Multiple characters are forced to face their own truths over the course of the film, including our heroine and both of our villains. Ultimately, both the film and Diana deliver an inspiring, hope-filled message to be thankful for what we have, and what we have survived, during one of the darkest years in recent history.

WW84 utilizes a more character-driven plot, so it takes a little bit longer for the film to unfold. However, it doesn’t necessarily feel like any particular scene or moment in the film is wasted. Everything ties in together, from the beginning flashback scene to the mid-credits finale. If there is one critique, it would be that Diana arguably has the least amount of screen time this time around. However, people who go in expecting to see an action-oriented superhero film with lots of epic fight scenes and an explosive climax like the first film will be sorely disappointed.

Ultimately, both the film and Diana deliver an inspiring, hope-filled message to be thankful for what we have, and what we have survived, during one of the darkest years in recent history.
