Many characters in the Harry Potter series take on their fears and we, as fans, are confronted with our own when it brings up snakes, sharks, spiders, and more!

For whatever reason, the Harry Potter series loves to tackle our fears in plenty of different ways. Not just through the idea of loss or the real life fears present in the story but also taking on those more irrational fears that keep us up at night. Like snakes, sharks, and spiders.

The series, for whatever reason, has a love of all three. Nagini and Harry being a Parseltongue bring the snakes into play, Ron’s own fear of spiders bring them into the mix, and Viktor Krum decided to be a shark in the Tri-Wizard tournament and it completed the trifecta. For whatever reason, these three are a fear many have.

Maybe it’s because they’re either freaky or they’re deadly or both. But whatever the reason behind it being, we all have this little fear in the back of our minds about it. So why then did the Harry Potter series think to make these three prominent in the series? Probably because they’re somewhat popular and common among general fears.

And it does make you think. It makes you stop and question the origin of your own fears and why they exist in the first place. Doesn’t mean we have to like that there are snakes, sharks, and spiders in the Harry Potter series but it’s nice to see that fear reflected on screen and seeing how it applies differently to all of us and how we take steps to separate ourselves from it.
