Former U.S. President Barack Obama has shared his favorite shows and movies of 2020, and we’re all about his picks.

Former President Barack Obama has created an annual tradition where, at the end of the year, he shares his favorite media of that year. The term favorites, in this case, can range from music, to books, to TV shows and movies. And for 2020, Obama had a lot of recognizable and great shows and movies on his list.

Like everything else this year, Obama’s list for 2020 looks bit different than his previous one. Last year, Obama only chose three favorite TV shows (Watchmen, Unbelievable, and the second season of Fleabag). But because everyone was stuck inside this year due to the pandemic and had nothing to do but steam shows and movies for hours on end, Obama included 10 shows in his 2020 list.

His movie list of 2020 consists of 14 wonderful, well-known, and critically acclaimed movies.

“Like everyone else, we were stuck inside a lot this year and with streaming further blurring the lines between theatrical movies and television features, I’ve expanded the list to include visual storytelling that I’ve enjoyed this year, regardless of format,” Obama wrote on Instagram.

Obama’s 2020 list of movies and television shows included a diverse range of genres and plotlines, from superheroes to tragedy. Some of the movies in his list this year include Let Him Go, Lovers Rock, and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Some TV shows on his list include Better Call Saul, The Good Place, and The Good Lord Bird, all of which are great shows and have high ratings from the toughest critics.

Here’s the full lineup of Obama’s 2020 recommendations:

  • Bacurau
  • Nomadland
  • Soul
  • Lovers Rock

Like always, Obama was praised for his “good taste,” as some have described it in the comment section of his Instagram post. Many are thrilled to have some of the same favorite TV shows as the former president. Some even called the former president “cool” for his taste in media.

“I mean is it cool that I share the same favorite shows as Obama or what,” wrote one Instagram user under Obama’s post.

“@barackobama proves again he is the coolest guy on the planet,” wrote another.

Obama’s annual favorites list seems to be a tradition that many people love, expect, and even anticipate at the end of the year, and many hope that he will keep doing this for years to come — us included!
