A gothic YA romantic fantasy from debut author Allison Saft, Down Comes the Night is lush, eerie, and feels like something fresh within this genre. It follows the story of two enemies turned maybe something else that are trapped inside a crumbling mansion, with no escape from the monsters within.
A dark, action-packed mystery with intricate worldbuilding and a uniquely creative magical system Down Comes the Night is a beautifully realized and wildly detailed story. When the powerful healer Wren Sutherland is summoned to treat a reclusive lord, she’s stunned to learn that the patient she’s being sent to heal is actually Hal Cavendish, a man who has done great harm to many people in her kingdom.
But since Wren can’t leave the estate, the two are forced to get to know one another, and when they discover a sinister secret, they’ll have to figure out how to save their kingdoms together.
