The first full trailer for Batwoman season 2 is here, giving fans a look at a Gotham in flux with a missing Kate Kane.

Whatever happened to Kate Kane?

That is the headline of the Gotham City Gazette, and it’s indeed one of the central questions heading into Batwoman season 2. (For both viewers and characters within the show itself alike.)

And in the first full trailer for the season, it’s clear that not one person seems to know the answer.

Kate Kane isn’t dead, but she’s clearly vanished without a single trace.

What they do know is that Gotham needs a Batwoman. Or at least, Mary knows it. Luke, on the other hand, seems wholly resistant to someone else donning the cowl. But that’s not going to stop Ryan Wilder.

Javicia Leslie is suited up and ready to go, and clearly, she’s a new kind of Batwoman. She’s got a new suit, a sick new car – the Batmobile is HERE friends – and, if Luke’s warning is to be believed, a new moral compass. If even Alice is admitting Ryan Wilder is going to be “a handful,” you know this Batwoman is going to be fun to watch.

That said, we can’t take our eyes off Alice herself. Having killed her chosen brother and stitched together a new Bruce Wayne in Batwoman‘s season one finale, Alice is fully unhinged. Whatever she’s planning can’t be good for Gotham.

In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, Alice is toying with her first hostage, which at first glance appears to be Julia Pennyworth. She’s clearly in a dangerous spot, and the new Batwoman better be ready.
