Has the love for Sirius Black/Remus Lupin died down in the Harry Potter fandom?
For years, it was always that Sirius Black/Remus Lupin was one of the top ships in the Harry Potter world but it seems as if Drarry and Dramione have taken over.
When the Tumblr Year in Review came out with Drarry as one of the top ships from the site, it wasn’t that shocking for fans of the Harry Potter series. There’s always been one ship in there somewhere but what’s interesting is seeing how it has shifted through time.
For quite a while, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin were among the top but now they aren’t near the big ships on Tumblr and it is interesting to look at why that is. Has the love for the Marauders started to fade? Is it just that this year fans (understandably) didn’t want to talk about the Harry Potter series anymore?
To be fair, I think it is the latter. With everything that happened with J.K. Rowling, it’s honestly surprising that Drarry and Dramione made the list but that’s more because creators and fans wanted to keep their love and work alive.
As we continue to try and find a way to navigate the world of Harry Potter away from Rowling, things are going to shift. Right now, fans don’t want to talk about the series that much and it makes sense so ships are going to change and the couples that once reigned my take a back seat. It’s impressive that two Draco Malfoy ships are still at the top of the pack but it’ll be interesting to see how that stays in years to come.
