Why Sirius Black talking about his family tree is so interesting to come back to
When Harry Potter goes to 12 Grimmauld Place, he sees the Black family tree and it is a sad look at the life that Sirius Black had to live with his family not being there for him.
Sirius Black had a family who didn’t want him and while Harry Potter can relate to that to some degree, it isn’t quite the same as Sirius. His family burned him out of a family tree, turned their back on him, and refused to talk about him because he wasn’t the same as they were.
It was sad because the only people who cared about Sirius were his friends and when James and Lily Potter were killed, he lost two of the people who he turned to the most. But it wasn’t until Harry went to visit Sirius at Number 12 Grimmauld Place that he really saw the struggle that Sirius faced when he was a free man.
There are many comparisons between the life that Sirius led prior to the death of his best friend and how Harry was forced to live with the Dursleys and it is sad to look at Sirius being outcast by his family, especially because Harry would love nothing more than to see his parents and Sirius’ do not care about him.
And maybe that’s why they end up being so close to each other because they both were the cast-offs of their family. But it is still an incredibly sad look at both Sirius Black and Harry Potter as characters that they’re two who no one, seemingly, wanted and who went on to find a family within their friends.
