Mads Mikkelsen is confirmed to be playing Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts series
There were rumors about Mads Mikkelsen taking over as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and now the studio has confirmed that he’ll be taking on the role in the next movie!
Mads Mikkelsen is now confirmed to be Grindelwald in the next Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie. While the rumor began sometime in the last month, there wasn’t any confirmation that Mikkelsen was for sure taking over the role but now the news has broken and the reaction is a bit mixed.
On one hand, Mikkelsen is an incredible choice for the role. But fans are split over being upset for Johnny Depp while others are still not willing to support the series because of its connections to J.K. Rowling.
It’s a hard line to balance for fans of the Harry Potter series right now because no one really knows how to deal with everything going on. To give money to the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series is to show that Rowling can say whatever she wants with no consequences but then it is also hurting those actors, like Mikkelsen, that we enjoy.
So what to do? Honestly, that’s for you to decide. I know personally that even Mads Mikkelsen (who I love very much) is not enough for me to give money to the series right now. Instead, I’ll donate the amount of my movie ticket to a trans organization to show my support instead of seeing the next installment.
But it is up to you and how you view the series now. But Mikkelsen taking over the role is an interesting choice, for sure.
