His Dark Materials season 2 episode 2 live stream: Watch online

The second episode of His Dark Materials season 2 airs tonight. Here’s what you need to know to watch the continuing adventures of Lyra Silvertongue.

Last week on His Dark Materials, viewers finally got to see Lyra Silvertongue and Will Parry’s worlds collide as the two met in a place called Cittàgazze, which is full of orphans and overrun by beings called Spectres.

As Lyra and Will got to know each other (and their respective dæmon or lack thereof), they formed a tentative alliance as they decided to continue exploring their new surroundings together.

Meanwhile, the conspiracy and prophecy surrounding Lyra continued to rage on as Mrs. Coulter tortured a witch, forcing Ruta Skadi to mercy kill her, taking out several other Magisterium operatives on her way.

“The City of Magpies” ended with a cliffhanger, as what seemed to be a Spectre loomed over Will a the young boy was mysteriously drawn toward something in the city.

HBO’s official synopsis (per IMDB) for “The Cave” reads:

"“Lyra and Will head to Oxford for answers. The Magisterium is faced with a choice.”"

Viewers will recognize the return of Lord Boreal, the ruthless mercenary of the Magisterium who tracks Will and Lyra across worlds as they return to Oxford in Will’s world in an attempt to uncover more about the conspiracy around them.

The preview also hints at an unfolding storyline between Lee Scoresby and Stanislaus Grumman. A distraught Lee, who lost Lyra out of his balloon at the end of the first season, is working to do whatever he can to help her, even without her at his side.

This includes finding Dr. Grumman who  Lee believes knows more about the metaphysical mysteries at hand. Only time will tell what exactly Lyra, Will, and Lee have stumbled into.
