Confessions in B-Flat by Donna Hill

Two schools of thought are brought together in Confessions in B-Flat by Donna Hill, as Jason Tanner and Anita Hopkins fall in love.

Harlem in 1963 is a bustling hub of Black culture, ideas, and movements pushing for improvement for Black communities across the U.S. Jason is a recent transplant to New York, who carries with him the teachings of his mentor, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Jason believes in non-violent resistance to the oppression smothering his people. But when he hears Anita’s poetry at the B-Flat lounge, he’s stopped in his tracks. Anita holds with Malcolm X’s teachings. She is fighting for freedom by any means necessary. Ideologically, the two are not a match, but Anita’s intrigued by this man who can keep up with her.

As intellectuals, Jason and Anita may be on opposing ground, but in love they may just be what the other needs not just in life, but also in the progress the two are working so hard to make for their people.

Confessions in B-Flat will be available November 24 in print and e-book format.

The Awakening by Nora Roberts

Nora Robert‘s latest series — The Dragon Heart Legacy — starts with The Awakening, a tale that takes a Philadelphian and drops her into a realm unlike anything she’s known outside of the stories her father used to tell her.

Breen Kelly used to believe in magical places, but that was when she was a child willing to put faith in anything mystical and wondrous. Now, she’s struggling under a mountain of student debt, battling anxiety, and willing herself to keep working a job she despises. Basically, she’s like most twenty-somethings in America trying to make it.

Except, apparently, her father left her nearly $4 million and her mom has been hiding it all this time? Bree isn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth. It’s exactly what she needed, but there’s always a catch. She finds this out when she travels to Ireland using some of the money.

What started as a small fortune becomes a mystery involving a man named Keegan and a portal in Galway that transports her to the realm of Talamh — a land where faeries and mermaids exist and, apparently, where her true destiny is just beginning.

The Awakening will be available November 24 in print, audio, and e-book format.
