The holidays at Hogwarts for the kids who do not get to go home
There is an option for students at Hogwarts to stay at the school if they can’t go home for the holidays and it is interesting to see who stays and what happens at the school.
Harry Potter didn’t want to go home to the Dursleys so he stayed at Hogwarts and it set a precedent. We as fans now knew that Harry could stay there without question and it brings up the question: Who thoughtout the years stayed at Hogwarts instead of going home?
Knowing that there were so many other characters who struggled with their families and the relationships they had, it’d make sense that they’d stay at school From Sirius to Snape and even further back to Voldemort, all those characters probably chose to stay at Hogwarts instead of going home because it was the place they felt the most at home.
And that’s an important time in this series too. The first few years, Harry spent his holidays at Hogwarts whether he was with his friends or alone but it meant that he stayed where he felt the most comfortable instead of being with the Dursleys where they didn’t want him in the first place.
That’s always lying beneath the surface of the Harry Potter series and it’s honestly incredibly sad to think about, especially in regards to the holidays for Harry. He never really had anyone who cared until the Weasleys cared about him but at least, while at Hogwarts, he had somewhere to stay where he wouldn’t feel like he was being some kind of burden just by being around.
