Why fans of the Harry Potter series love the Weasley sweaters most of all
When we first saw Harry and Ron spending the holidays together in their sweaters knitted by Molly Weasley, it made us want one all our own so let’s talk about why we as fans of the Harry Potter series love them.
Molly Weasley made sweaters for her family each year in the Harry Potter series and we, as fans, slowly saw that as a staple of the series. Whether it was because you wanted one yourself or just because of what it represented in the series, there was a beauty to the Weasley sweater.
Even now, when you go to the park, they exist as something you can buy. You can make one yourself or whatever you want but it’s important to look at why we love them so much and it is completely because of what it meant to Harry at the time.
He’d never gotten a real gift, not one that he could understand or didn’t belong to Dudley first. So when he received a gift from Molly Weasley, a woman he’d barely met, because she cared about her son’s friend, it was wonderful to see as fans of the series.
There’s a beauty to the people who care about Harry and show him affection. He wanted a family so badly and wanted to know what it felt like to be loved and this sweater was his first look into that. It was the first time someone did something nice for him without it being for show or something that was expected of them.
So maybe that’s why we love these sweaters so much but either way, they’re a staple of the Harry Potter series.
