Odette Annable

Where you know her from: Banshee, Supergirl, and Tell Me a Story

Odette Annable has been acting since the early ’90s, starring in films such as Kindergarten Cop and Cloverfield, and television series such as October Road and House. She landed a recurring role in season five of Brothers & Sisters, where she would meet her future husband, Dave Annable. The couple married in 2010.

In 2017, Odette landed the plum role of Samantha Arias on The CW’s Supergirl in the third season, with Samantha being introduced as a colleague of Lena’s who later befriends Kara and Alex. Unbeknownst to her friends, we would soon learn that Samantha shared a body with the Kryptonian Worldkiller, Reign, and become one of Supergirl’s fiercest villains. Season three is widely considered the best season of Supergirl (so far), and Odette’s talented performance clearly contributed to that.

Given the type of roles she’s played in the past, Odette would be perfect for Jessica Drew, a.k.a. the most common secret identity of Spider-Woman. Olivia Wilde’s female-fronted Sony film set in the Spider-Verse is expected to feature, at least in some part, the introduction of Spider-Woman. However, Spider-Woman is one of those tricky characters where the Jessica Drew identity is owned by Marvel/Disney, but the Spider-Woman mantle belongs to Sony.

Sony could be going with an alternate identity for Spider-Woman, leaving Jessica Drew with Marvel, or this could be a joint effort, similar to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Either way, with her acting prowess and experience in action-oriented roles, Odette would be a perfect fit as the female web-slinger.
