With the future of the Fantastic Beasts series in the air, fans can look back at the series and figure out what they actually like about it and what needs to be worked on.

Now that the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them franchise is a bit up in the air, it’s a good time for fans of the Harry Potter world to take a look at the problems that exist there in the series and how to fix them. For so long, we’ve had this mentality of brushing off the aspects of this series that we find fault in and just letting them go.

But with Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, there were so many issues in the story and it just seemed to get worse and worse. Now, with the series either having the battle of recasting Grindelwald or delaying indefinitely, maybe it is time for us to also look at what problems we had with the franchise as a whole and start to call them out.

Not only was it problematic that Queenie Goldstein went with Grindelwald but the entire situation that Newt Scamander and his friends find himself in is a bit of a mess. And the fact that McGonagall was teaching at Hogwarts and she wasn’t even alive yet was another issue.

But maybe this will refocus the series and let the story start to flow away from the messy politics of Grindelwald that they’re clearly not ready to get into. It’s also, sadly, not that interesting since we know what Grindelwald’s future holds for him by the time we get to Harry and his journey.
