Johnny Depp is no longer part of the Fantastic Beasts series
There will either be a new Grindelwald coming our way or a new look to the Fantastic Beasts series as Johnny Depp has been asked to step down from the franchise.
Shared to Johnny Depp’s Instagram, the news broke that the actor was asked to step down from the franchise. While we’re not going to get into why this happened or what was going on behind the scenes, we are going to talk about what it means for the future of the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
The last we saw, Grindelwald had convinced some of Newt Scamander’s friends to join him, telling Credence Barebone that he’s a secret Dumbledore and now what does that mean for the future if Grindelwald is out? Well, it might be something where they just change the role back to Colin Farrell or maybe they need to stop and re-envision the Harry Potter franchise as a whole.
But that doesn’t mean that the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series is looking up either. Rowling is still directly connected to it and is something that many of us do not want to support. Hopefully, this is a step in Warner Brothers listening to fans and exploring different options within the series but until then, it’s going to be interesting to see how well this franchise does because there is a very clear divide and WB taking Johnny Depp out of the equation but still working with Rowling is separating that series even more.
The future of the Harry Potter series is unclear but buying out J.K. Rowling might be the next step.
