3. The Rehearsals and the Performances Are Intense
Preparation for the show is even intense for a daily talk show host.
“Rehearsals were really, really difficult,” Wendy Williams said, sharing it last about six to eight hours a day.
The contestants are expected to prepare two songs for their debut outing. Williams’s first choice was “Native New Yorker” by Odyssey as it’s one of her personal favorites and one she typically remembers the lyrics to.
But “even for a song that you love — you forget the words when you go out there. I’m like ‘wow, this is really something else. I’m on The Masked Singer,’” Williams said.
While The Masked Singer is billed as a lighter entertainment show, the pressure of performing in front of millions at home does seek into the biggest television personalities including an Emmy nominated talk show host in Williams. But as always, Williams’s personality shined and allowed her to get past her nerves to go out and put on an entertaining performance.
“You did a great job because it is not easy. You have to be brave to get on that show. But you are all about having fun, stepping out of your comfort zone and it looked like you were having a ball,” Jenny McCarthy told Williams on The Wendy Williams Show. “We couldn’t tell you were nervous, you were snorting [and] having a good time.”
Williams conveyed her song choice for her second performance would have been “Party All the Time” by Eddie Murphy.
