Lady Gaga is known for being active in politics, and now she’s using her platform to push Americans to vote in this upcoming election.

If you’re living in the United States, you know this past week has been a whirlwind when it comes to politics. Election Day is almost upon us, and early voting has been underway across the country. It’s an exciting and nerve-wracking time for many, and especially for those who still need to get out there and cast their ballots.

True to her usual fashion, Lady Gaga has been using her platform to motivate people to vote in the upcoming election, and she shared a PSA on Friday for anyone who hasn’t made a plan to vote yet. Time’s almost up, and she emphasized that, posting a video to Twitter that encouraged American citizens to make a voting plan before it’s too late.

She opened her video by thanking those who have already participated in the election: “I want to say something to those of you who have already voted, though: thank you, thank you, thank you. You did your part, and I love you for it.”

Gaga then emphasized that those aren’t the people she needs to talk to. She made it clear that her message was for “people who don’t have a plan to vote, are undecided, people who are unsure if they even believe in voting at all.”

Gaga went on to say she understands the reasons people may not have voted — from disliking all the candidates to being discouraged by everything going on right now — but she held that citizens are accountable regardless of such things. After all, voting helps decide on individuals’ futures as much as it determines the country’s future. She said:

"“If you want this country to be different than it is right now, you have got to participate in this election. When they announce who has won the election, it will be very clear what this country has become. The government is not going away tomorrow, and unless you have a plane ticket to another country and somewhere that you’re going to live, this is going to be your home.”"

Despite Gaga being open about her political views, she also stressed the importance of people who disagree with her voting. She told her fans and followers to make their voices heard — and to do it by the time the polls close on November 3.

If there’s one truth about her statement, it’s this: “You can vote early, but you can’t vote late.”
