One of the most iconic moments in the Harry Potter series is when there is a troll in the dungeon on Halloween so let’s celebrate the holiday by talking about it!
Most fans of the Harry Potter series remember hearing “There’s a troll in the dungeon” when they first watched Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. They remember reading about it when they picked up the book. And, for a lot of us, it is an important part of Halloween.
For whatever reason, we loved that scene and how Harry, Ron, and Hermione, all became friends because of their determination to save Hermione. They grew into the friendship we knew and grew with and that is important.
And it all started because they were worried about Hermione’s safety after she ran off. Yeah, she wouldn’t have run off if it wasn’t for Ron being mean about her and their friendship maybe would have blossomed in a different way but there is still something beautiful about knowing that the two boys were so worried about her that they risked their lives to go and find her?
It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship that many of us look for in our own lives. So much of the series is about finding your people and finding those who you can count on and the troll reminds us of that because we get to see how Harry, Ron, and Hermione came together and that’s probably why we tend to think fondly back on that first encounter all on their own. Even if it was meant to be a distraction.
