How will James Olsen’s story end in Supergirl season 6?

One of the original stars of the show, Mehcad Brooks played James Olsen, the former confidant of Superman who moves to National City to befriend his cousin, Kara. While there was a brief flirtation between James and Kara, they ended up just being good friends and, for a short time, teammates once he donned the Guardian identity. Early on in season 5, James leaves National City to move back to his hometown where abuses of judicial power have been running unchecked. James assumes ownership of the town’s newspaper in order to continue fighting for truth and justice as a civilian.

James’ ending in season 5 was a perfect conclusion for his character. By this point, the writers seem to not know what to do with him anymore and Brooks wanted to take his shot at a film career (he is slated to star as Jax in the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie series reboot). Even though he was an important part of the show in its early years, his story did seem to just come to an end naturally. He’s probably not going to be a huge part of season 6, but we wouldn’t rule out a cameo appearance, possibly at Alex and Kelly’s wedding.
