How will Kelly Olsen’s story end in Supergirl season 6?

First appearing throughout season 4 as a recurring character, Azie Tesfai‘s Kelly Olsen took a while to find her autonomy. While it was clear that the writers were looking to pair up Kelly with a post-Sanvers Alex, they seemed to struggle to find her a story outside of that relationship. Season 5 gave us a bit of promise, as Kelly took on a new job at Obsidian Tech, a startup led by another new character, Andrea Rojas. Kelly’s work in helping people suffering from PTSD and other mental illness was very important to her, but it quickly became clear that Obsidian was being used as a tool for Lex Luthor‘s plan to take over the world.

Aside from a progression in her relationship with Alex in season 6, we would love to see more of Kelly standing on her own. Perhaps working with Lena in a therapist capacity, or even as a somewhat insider looking to bond with someone else who is on the outs with the team as well. Kelly was another character that seemed to be shifted to the sidelines for much of season five, although it was nice to see her temporarily suit up as the new Guardian in the 100th episode. While we’re not in a hurry to see her suit in the show’s main continuity, she is definitely due a healthier storyline in the final season.
