How will Samantha Arias’ story end in Supergirl season 6?

Let’s be honest, season 3 is peak Supergirl and Odette Annable‘s Samantha Arias/Reign was a huge part of making that season so great. As Reign, she was one of the most formidable villains Supergirl and Co. have gone up against. As Samantha, she quickly became close friends with Lena, Kara, and Alex. Sam’s daughter Ruby had grown particularly close to Alex, prompting Alex’s maternal instincts to kick in, thus ending the Sanvers relationship. Many fans of the show were hoping that Sam and Ruby would stick around, with Sam and Alex possibly becoming a couple the following season. Alas, Annable was only contracted for one season and we were given the news early on in season 4 that Sam and Ruby had moved to Metropolis for a fresh start.

Though Sam hadn’t been mentioned for quite some time, Annable did make a brief appearance in Supergirl‘s alternate universe-jumping 100th episode. Following the revelation that Kara is Supergirl, Lena goes to see Sam in Metropolis to talk about her feelings regarding the situation. Sam reassures Lena that she has always been a hero to her for saving her life. While it’s unlikely that Sam will reappear in any ongoing capacity during the final season, she and Ruby could make an appearance, in the event there will be a wedding for Alex and Kelly towards the end of the series.
