Supergirl season 6: Predicting how each major character’s story will end
By Shaun Stacy
With production of the final season of Supergirl just getting underway at The CW, we’re making predictions about how things will wrap up for Kara & Company.
In September, The CW announced that the upcoming sixth season of Supergirl would be its last, leaving fans to speculate on just how the series will be wrapping up five years’ worth of storylines. Season 5 was a bit uneven and wasn’t helped by the make-shift finale caused by Hollywood shutting down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we’re confident that this will give the show-runners enough time and preparation to send our band of heroes out on top.
Given that Supergirl and its characters have been an integral part of the greater Arrowverse by participating in every major crossover since they began, we know that they’re probably not going to kill off very many if any, characters. Reports have already indicated that Melissa Benoist has shown interest in guest-starring in the Arrowverse shows in the future.
When thinking about Supergirl, which is an ensemble show named after a single character, the type of series finale for similar shows typically follow a “life goes on” approach. Take the recent series finales of both Arrow and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD for example. We knew from the beginning of the final season that Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen was going to die, but we got glimpses of what happens to the rest of the show’s characters in the wake of his death. Agents of SHIELD‘s final episode included a final showdown with a Big Bad, as well as a separation of the team, that was followed by a short time-jump which gave us updates on what all of the characters had been up to. This is the type of finale that will most likely occur on Supergirl.
So how exactly will things be wrapped up? We’re taking a look at each major character and predicting how their stories will be concluded at the end of season 6.
