For some reason, there are terrible characters in the Harry Potter series that people seem to forgive and really love and let’s explore why that is and why that still happens.

The Harry Potter series is filled with characters to love and explore but for some reason, we tend to flock to the same characters who don’t really deserve our forgiveness. One of the biggest characters that people tend to just forgive is Snape.

Severus Snape was a menace to these children, hurt them, and didn’t care what happened to them and only really cared about Harry because of his connection to Lily Potter. And yet he often gets a free pass by fans because of that “tragic” love story aspect. It’s strange.

Then there’s Dumbledore who used Harry to his advantage over and over again and no one seemed to stop him. Those are just the “beloved” characters of the series and not even getting into the actual horrible humans like Umbridge and Grindelwald and Voldemort.

So what is it about this series in particular that people try to find forgiveness in these characters? Truly, it’s baffling. These are inherently bad people who use a child for their bidding but we give them credit and we probably shouldn’t.

Snape is not a good person, neither is Dumbledore, and certainly not any of those who follow Grindelwald or Voldemort. And maybe the better way of looking at this series would be to critically tear apart those who get “redemption” and explore why they probably shouldn’t.
