We need a series like The Boys to take on the Harry Potter series
The Boys is a show that takes on the superhero genre in a new and exciting way and maybe that’s something that the Harry Potter series needs as well to re-examine the series.
When it comes to shows how to tackle a genre that sometimes needs to be reminded of its absurdity, The Boys does an incredible job and maybe it’s time for something like this to happen to the Harry Potter series.
Right now, the problem with the series is that we’re all so connected to the original series that we don’t really care to explore the aspects of the franchise that aren’t that great. So we just focus on what we do love about it and that’s that without any further insight into it.
And, while The Boys does tear down the idea of the superhero genre, it still falls into that category of show and does give the original comic it is based on justice. So if something were to be created that could tackle the problems with the Harry Potter series, then we could actually address the more problematic parts of the franchise without a lot of pushback against it.
Who knows when something like this will exist or when we can start to explore anything in this regard but it’s a nice thought. Especially since we are actively looking at the series in a new lens. And maybe The Boys will start to give way to more constructive looks at other genres (and not just a repeated look at the superhero world).
