Why fans love exploring the friendship between James Potter and Sirius Black
James Potter and Sirius Black had an interesting friendship to explore in the Harry Potter series but we didn’t get to see that much of it. So let’s see why fans love it so much.
When it comes to the Harry Potter series, many of our favorite characters are often the ones who don’t get to play a larger part in the franchise. But lucky for us, there have been wonderful worlds explored in fanfiction throughout the years and, for whatever reason, the Marauders have been the stars. And looking at the friendship between James Potter and Sirius Black is important.
Their friendship isn’t one of just school friends who got along. For all extents and purposes, they were brothers. When James Potter went home, Sirius was with him. When they needed each other, they were there and that’s what really matters with the series.
It’s why we go back to this group of friends so frequently. We enjoy their love for each other and their willingness to do whatever it takes for each other. With the exception of Peter Pettigrew, of course.
But between James Potter and Sirius Black, there was a love that they shared that was left unexplored for the most part. We knew that Sirius Black went to jail for giving up Lily and James Potter and that when the truth was revealed, he was upset that he was being called to blame for the death of his best friend.
They clearly cared about each other and seeing them as friends would have been something wonderful for fans of the series as whole but at least we have them in fanfiction!
