Buffy the Vampire Slayer and how it ushered in the Harry Potter era
The 90s were a time for fans of the supernatural and the world was introduced to Buffy Summers but also, in a lot of ways, it helped us turn to love the Harry Potter series.
When it comes to the world of supernatural beings and things, we are no stranger to them as fans of the Harry Potter series. But did shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer help usher in a time in our pop culture world that made us want something like Hogwarts and the witches and wizards of Harry Potter’s world?
To be honest, probably. That’s the joy of these sorts of franchises and when they became popular. It doesn’t particularly matter when or how they became popular but rather who needed the series in general.
For Harry Potter, young fans needed a series that was entirely their own instead of being taught about a franchise. For so long, we had everyone else showing us great things and didn’t really have anything that we got to explore on our own.
But luckily, with Potter, it was ours. We got to explore it ourselves for the first time and show others the joy it brought us and we got to know more about the series than someone else. And it helped that shows like Buffy had come out in the 90s to usher in the world of supernatural beings and what we all wanted to know more about. Especially in America.
The 90s were a fun time of people trying to find a new story to explore and Buffy and Harry Potter helped that.
