The cover for A Court of Silver Flames, the next installment in Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses series is here and it is beautiful.

The long-awaited fifth installment in Sarah J. Maas’ bestselling A Court of Thorns and Roses series will arrive this winter and we now have both an official cover and an updated release date!

Entitled A Court of Silver Flames, it will be the first full Court of Thorns and Roses novel that does not focus on the series’ original heroine Feyre or her mate Rhys.

Instead, it will shift its focus to Feyre’s sister Nesta, who herself was changed into a High Fae during the events of A Court of Mist and Fury. She has been adjusting to her transformation ever since and, outside of a brief snippet at the end of the most recent ACOTAR novel,  A Court of Frost and Starlight, we have little idea about how she feels about what’s happened to her, or her growing feelings toward Rhys’s blood brother Cassian.

Goodreads officially revealed the cover for A Court of Silver Flames last week and, as you can see below, it will be the first book in the ACOTAR series to sport the new “adult” covers upon release, rather than the previous artwork style, which sported a female character we all assumed was meant to be Feyre on the cover.

Some fans are vocally unhappy about this change, complaining that it means the full series won’t match if you bought original editions of the first four novels. And while this is a complaint I can certainly understand (I have the original covers of the ACOTAR books on my shelves right now), on some level there’s something to be said for a clear line of demarcation between Feyre’s story and everyone else’s.

(Personally, I’m still hoping that this second half of the series will feature novels that are each focused on a different character, if only because I need a Mor book like air.)

Eagle-eyed fans will notice that the release date for A Court of Silver Flames has shifted back a few weeks from the initially announced date of January, 26  to February 16, 2021. This is apparently due to production delays related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic at the publishing house,

Are you looking forward to the continuation of the A Court and Roses series?
