A Return to Its Roots

Supergirl, both the show and the character, has always stood for hope and optimism in an often chaotic and uncertain world. The past couple of seasons seem to have lost track of what makes the show so special to begin with. Although season four’s alien/immigrant storyline was a nice allegory for what was going on in the real world, season five’s tech-heavy plot seemed to stretch out for far too long, along with the rift between Kara and Lena.

The final season needs to be packed with Danvers Sisters moments, along with Kara and Lena mending their relationship (whatever that might look like). Everyone needs to come together to fight a Big Bad, who isn’t Lex Luthor, but is big enough to make defeating them a challenge.

Kara was always the optimist to the Flash’s realist and Green Arrow’s cynic, and the show needs to highlight that throughout the season. With all of the scheduling conflicts, it may be too much to hope for one last crossover, but it would be nice to have some of the Arrowverse’s Justice League show up from time to time.
