We’ve constantly been told that Hogwarts is always there to welcome us home but with everything happening, can Harry Potter fans still feel the same way about the magic school?
Hogwarts has always been there for us but now, that idea is being challenged because of the current climate surrounding the Harry Potter series. But can fans still honor that idea that Hogwarts is there for us? In a way, yes.
Mainly because Hogwarts has never been about the actual place but rather those who brought us happiness when it came to the series. Meaning our friends. That’s the real Hogwarts. So in a way, yes, we can still honor that idea even when the series and the way we relate to it has to change.
The brilliance of the Harry Potter series and why it ended up staying popular all these years wasn’t necessarily because of the characters or the story. A lot of it had to do with those friends we made because of the series or the stories we wanted to read online.
Hogwarts is that fandom. And right now, a lot of that fandom is standing up and supporting each other in a beautiful way and, in a lot of ways, that’s our Hogwarts and what we need from it. Sure, we don’t have to call it Hogwarts anymore or maybe that’s one of the ways we can begin to reclaim the series but whatever we, as a fandom, do, we can, at least, always have that idea there to bring us all back together.
