Dudley Dursley may have terrorized Harry Potter’s childhood but Harry Melling has continued to bring interesting characters to life. Like Roy in Netflix’s The Devil All The Time.

The Devil All The Time is not a story for the faint of heart but, for fans of the Harry Potter series, there is are multiple faces in the film you may recognize. But let’s focus today on Harry Melling. The actor who brought Dudley Dursley to life shines in the dark film as Roy, a man who believes that he has been touched by god.

What’s so interesting about his character is that he’s not as “evil” as some of the others. He does evil things but they are under the pretense that he has a gift to grant those around him with life and healing.

So when he does these evil acts, he does so believing that he can fix what he has broken. The problem is that he doesn’t really have those powers and he just ends up in a mess of his own making. But Harry Melling does an incredible job bringing him to life because you do, in a way, feel bad for him.

He’s tricked into believing these things about himself and when he does harm someone, it’s not from a place of malice but one of believing. So if you are a fan of the Harry Potter series and, specifically, Harry Melling, it’s an interesting change of pace for him as an actor.

But, overall, is a movie we should watch at some point in our lives because it does talk about the evils of this world in an interesting way.

Next. Why we have to reclaim Harry Potter in our own ways and how to do that. dark
