Star Wars fans are raising money to help the trans community as well!
It’s been rough for fans of big franchises recently and now Star Wars fans are also raising money for the trans community!
Star Wars fans have also had to come to a choice: Love the property that has brought you joy and just forget about the stuff happening outside of the series to those involved in real life or take accountability. And, like many Harry Potter fans, fans of The Mandalorian have decided to raise money in support of fans offended by one actor’s tweets!
A fundraiser was started to help the Transgender Law Center after Gina Carano, who plays Cara Dune on The Mandalorian started to mock the idea of pronouns being used on social media. Here’s the thing: Pronouns are an easy way of showing your support. No one is really asking you to do too much, it’s just a simple way to show your support while also sharing information about yourself!
The problem with Carano is that when she shared that she wasn’t going to do it, instead of letting it drop after stating that she just wasn’t going to add them, she let people messaging her enrage her instead of realizing what they were asking and went to mock the use of pronouns.
But fans are doing their part to show their love of the series as well as the trans community by raising this money to help and that’s what is so great about fandom. These fans are turning their love into action and helping those hurt by things creatives are saying and doing and it’s why we love fandoms in the first place.
