Fans of the Harry Potter series who want to protect those in the trans community should be making regular donations to help where you can!
The Harry Potter series taught us a great many lessons and one of those lessons was to look out for each other. And, right now, in the midst of Rowling coming out with constant remarks that are harmful to the trans community, we have to remember what this series taught us and protect those hurt by Rowling’s words.
So, what can fans do? They can make regular contributions to trans organizations to show our support! It’s a simple way of saying that we understand what’s going on and why it’s harmful and that we’re here to help and support in whatever ways that we can.
And if you can’t donate, that’s okay too! But you can find other ways of supporting the community. You can reach out to fans you know were hurt by Rowling’s words, you can make sure their work is appreciated and spread instead, and you can just be there for our fellow Potter fans.
The problem with Rowling’s words is that she is not just sharing a harmful opinion but she’s also harming those who found solace in her work growing up. Now they have to come to terms with the fact that the woman who wrote a story they love and appreciate doesn’t love and appreciate them.
So we can be there to love and support those hurt by Rowling’s words and the trans community in whatever ways they need us to!
