After a handful of powers were played and Da’Vonne made the first real veto move of the season, reluctant pawn Ian Terry found himself heading to the Big Brother jury house by a 5-3 vote.

Heading into the first week of the Big Brother jury, “The Committee” still remains strong (despite a few bumps in the road) with all of their numbers  intact. Although Ian campaigned hard after being put up as a “pawn” by Dani against Tyler, the BB14 winner who once bested BB great Dan Gheesling found himself headed out the door by a 5-3 vote on Thursday night.

Comp Queen Dani Outlasts for the HOH Win

After Bayleigh’s eviction last week, the houseguests participated in a BB classic for the HOH comp – the infamous wall. Although every houseguest fought tooth and nail for the win, it was Dani who managed to stick it out the longest – continuing her reputation as the queen of endurance comps, securing her safety for another week, and giving herself ultimate power.

Although initially, it looked like The Committee may crumble, given Tyler and Dani’s rocky relationship in previous weeks, Cody was able to persuade Dani to cool her jets for a few more weeks and nominate two houseguests outside of the alliance.

That left Kevin, Ian, Enzo, David, and Da’Vonne as possible targets for the week, and given Dani’s close relationship with Da’Vonnee, Kevin and David hit the block together.

The Disruptor Power is Unleashed

However, before the dust could settle on Dani’s nominations, David (after a few crocodile tears for dramatic effect) used the disruptor power he earned last week to save himself from the block (and not to toot our own horn, but we totally called this in last week’s recap). With David safe for the week, that left Dani with a dilemma, and when forced to chose a re-nom to replace David, she pulled the trigger and put her fellow alliance member Tyler on the block.

This ruffled a few feathers with her alliance, (namely Cody and Christmas) who were understandably upset that Dani put up someone she was supposedly aligned with. However, Dani managed to smoothe things over with the Committee and assure them that he wasn’t actually her target.

A Micro Veto

The next day saw the all-important veto being played, and for the first time this season, it was a refreshingly new comp that we’ve never seen before – the houseguests attempted to use a pair of oversized tweezers to stack mini (and we mean MINI) beer cans into a pyramid. After a close race, Da’Vonne pulled out her first-ever comp win, securing her safety and giving her the opportunity to also save an ally.

Although Dani and the rest of the Committee tried their hardest to persuade Da’Vonne not to use the power of veto, Da’Vonne stuck to her guns and pulled Kevin off the block – saving one of her few remaining allies from eviction. This meant that Dani had to pick yet another houseguest to go on the block (her fourth nomination, for those keeping track at home) as a replacement.

A Winner gets the Backdoor

With Kevin pulled off the block, Dani nominated Ian for eviction as the replacement nominee – putting two of the house’s most iconic players in the hot seat come eviction night. Although Dani assured Ian (both in her speech and in private) that he was merely a pawn so that Tyler would go home, she and the rest of her alliance made plans to vote him out and stay six strong.

The only votes in Ian’s favor were Kevin, David, and Da’Vonne, because despite her tears in the diary room, Nicole had no intention whatsoever of keeping her ‘best friend’ in the house – in fact, she practiced all week long on how to cry and act upset while delivering her vote to evict.

With Ian out the door by a vote of 5-3, another week passes with the Committee still holding strong, and Memphis snagging the HOH wins means we’ll likely get more of the same next week – yet again.

Julie did tease a little bit of excitement at the end of the episode – she mentioned that a “neighbor” had moved in next to the BB house and would be stirring up trouble – which could mean any number of things. Our favorite theories are that it could be a BB legend like Dr. Will or Rachel, and another fun twist could be a more literal interpretation – someone like Ika Wong, who plays in the northern “neighbor” of Big Brother US: Big Brother Canada.

This Week’s Superlatives

Clutch Play of the Week: Da’Vonne saving Kevin from the block with the veto most likely saved him from eviction.

Most Memorable Moment:  Da’Vonne winning her first comp in three seasons of playing. Go Day!

Houseguest in the Best Spot: With Memphis as HOH, Cody and Enzo are both sitting pretty, yet again.
