Harry Potter may have never held anyone accountable but we, as fans, must

While Harry Potter was a boy who didn’t really stand up for himself and did what he was told to do, we, as fans, have to stand up and talk about what is and isn’t right in this world.

Often, Harry Potter forgave people he probably shouldn’t. Whether it be Dumbledore or Snape or anyone else, he gave them forgiveness because he tried to understand where they were coming from. It’s a good lesson for some things in life because people will have different views.

But one thing that the Harry Potter series did do was remind us all sometimes, we cannot choose forgiveness. While I personally wouldn’t have forgiven Snape, Harry had that right. But then he didn’t forgive someone like Voldemort (as he shouldn’t) and that’s also an important lesson to learn right now.

We live in a world where so many people want to brush off the idea that their views can be harmful. Which is odd because that’s….always been the case to some extent but with how many are respecting Rowling’s “right” to have an opinion, they’re losing the idea that the reason we’re holding her accountable is because her words are damaging to the community she’s targetting.

So, instead of treating her like Snape or Dumbledore as Harry did, we have to hold her accountable in the way that Harry did to the darkness of his own world because that’s what this series taught us and sorry that it has now made us more compassionate.

Next. Robbie Coltrane did not need to stand up for J.K. Rowling. Sorry, Hagrid.. dark
