The trailer for Dune is finally here, and it shows off an all-star cast and some epic action sequences.

One of the most anticipated, if not the most anticipated, films of the year is Denis Villenueve’s Dune. While not much of the film has been shown thus far, the trailer finally came out today — and it is possibly even better than most people expected.

The film has an all-star cast that is a thing of legends. Not only does it star Timothée Chalamet, but it also features Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.

Based on the novel by Frank Herbert, the story follows the son of a noble family who is entrusted with protecting the most valuable item in the galaxy and the thing that ensures the galaxy’s existence. (And you think your responsibilities are overwhelming!)

The trailer starts off with Chalamet AKA Paul in the dessert with wind-blown hair, which is enough to get some fans excited already. (No judgment here!) Paul also seems to dream things that will eventually happen. He sees himself kissing Zendaya’s character Chani, and he sees the destruction of the world.

The clip then shows him in training with Rampling’s character, Gaius Helen Mohiam. He must place his hand in a box and not remove it. What’s in the box? PAIN. Loads of pain. We then see Paul training to fight. Honestly, who doesn’t like a good training scene?

The trailer goes on to show a pensive Isaac playing Duke Leto Atreides, Paul’s dad. He’s rocking the full beard, and honestly, if that’s your only reason for seeing this movie, I salute you.

As the clip goes on, we see a full-on army, Jason Momoa looking like the warrior that he is and saying, “Let’s fight them like demons,” (yes, let’s do that!) and some brilliant looking fights.

If the trailer is half as good as the movie, it’s going to be amazing. Villenueve has rarely made a bad film (how amazing was Arrival and Prisoners?), and Dune looks like another stellar addition to his résumé. It will most likely be one of the top-grossing movies of the year whether we’re able to go to the theaters or not.

Let’s all cross our fingers and/or pray that this goes to video on demand so we can all experience it at home. If I have to pay $30 to watch it from my couch, I’m more than willing to do it for this epic adventure.

Dune is scheduled to come out December 18, 2020.
