Albus Dumbledore probably had the best of intentions going into the Harry Potter series but when you stop and look at his actions, it didn’t really feel like he was someone we should look up to.

When it comes to the Harry Potter series, we often look up to Albus Dumbledore as the guide that Harry needed to take on Voldemort. But when you stop and actually look at him and the advice he gave Harry Potter, it wasn’t that great.

Look at it this way: Dumbledore was willing and ready to let a child fight in a war because he thought that was what needed to happen and he didn’t really think about the ramifications of what would happen to said child.

And we’ve talked endlessly about why that’s not exactly a great quality in him as a character. So, should we look back at Dumbledore as someone to look up to? Not at all but we can look at how he handled the entire situation with Harry and see the problem with it.

So much of the Harry Potter series was set around Harry being in the dark and not knowing what was going on and a lot of that was at the hand of Dumbledore. Had he told Harry what was happening and the situation from the start, maybe even Sirius Black and Remus Lupin would be alive along with Fred Weasley and everyone else they lost along the way.

At the end of the day, we can love Dumbledore and what he represents in the series but that doesn’t mean we have to look back at him without judgement.
